Dog the bounty hunter dead is a video game developed by Petroglyph and published by Activision for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. Released in May 2010, the game has dog-related elements. Players guide Dog through a series of missions in order to retrieve his stolen bounty.
Gameplay
As the game begins, Dog is walking through a forest and is approached by the character known as the "Mute" who tries to convince Dog to become a bounty hunter like him. Afterward, Dog is taken to the first mission, which is called "Gift for the Bounty". This mission is played over a flashback, which shows Dog at a party, where he meets the two bounty hunters that he is going to work for. At the end of the mission, Dog is told that he has to retrieve the bounty for them and he has to do it alone and he must also try to earn a badge. In the game, players have to avoid hostile characters such as animals, enemies and other bounty hunters. Players must avoid obstacles such as traffic, vehicles and terrn.
In the game, there are a lot of collectibles (bounty, weapons, vehicles, badges and etc.) that will help Dog survive the missions. They must be collected in order to survive the missions. Players have to use their weapons (guns, grenades, flashbang, rockets and etc.) to complete missions.
In the game, the character is not tied to a particular storyline. The player is free to decide which missions to complete and how to do it. The game includes different activities such as playing pool, boxing, and darts.
Development
The game was released on May 26, 2010. The soundtrack for the game includes an original composition, remixes, and samples. The original composition for the game is named "Spirits &, Ghosts" and the remixes include "Eyes of a New Dawn", "Rumble of the Machine", and "Out of Time" which are done by various artists including David Wise, RZA, DJ Lethal, DJ Babu, and many others.
Downloadable Content
On June 3, 2010, a demo of the game was released for free. The demo includes two missions, one mission is the tutorial mission which teaches players how to play the game. The second mission is the Mn Quest and it is a very important mission. Players are able to collect their bounty from the Mn Quest mission.
Reception
Critical reception to the game was generally mixed. The game has a Metacritic score of 68% and a GameRankings score of 65%.
Sequel
On August 4, 2012, a sequel to the game named 'Dog Eat Dog was released on iTunes and on other game stores. It features an expansion pack, the Dog Eat Dog World (DEDW), the first of which, 'Abandoned Facility,' was made avlable on May 19, 2012, as well as other features that give players more ways to unlock bonus items. On February 1, 2013, DEDW was released in open beta form, which allowed players to play the DLCs.
